Gillian Rolton Memorial Alumnus Award

 

Rachael Edwards has been a dedicated and passionate member of the Pony Club community for over 37 years, contributing as a rider, coach, mentor, and parent.

A recipient of the prestigious Award of Merit, Rachael’s commitment to the sport and ongoing professional development is evident in her extensive qualifications, including PCA Level 1 Coach & Assessor, PCA Archery Coach, EA Level 1 Coach, HRCAV Dressage Judge, and many more. She continually seeks to upskill, holding certificates in Training and Assessment, Child Psychology, and First Aid, among others.

Currently serving as the Chief Instructor of the Northern Metropolitan Zone, Rachael has also been a PCA Coach of the Year (2020) and PCV Coach of the Year, reflecting her exceptional leadership and coaching abilities. Her role extends internationally, having coached and managed Australian teams at events in China, France, and the USA. Notably, she was the Chef de Equipe for the PCA International Show Jumping Competition in France in 2023.

Rachael’s contributions to the equestrian world extend beyond Pony Club, as she is an active member of EA, a certified HRCAV dressage judge, and the President of Yarra Hills Equestrian Club. She has also volunteered extensively with Riding for the Disabled Australia (RDA) and served on various committees across HRCAV and Pony Club.

In addition to her work as a coach and mentor, Rachael supports riders by organising clinics, overseeing junior committees, and contributing to publications like Equestrian Life and Chaff Chat. She has presented at major events like Equitana and continues to be a strong advocate for Pony Club values, both locally and internationally.

Her coaching philosophy focuses on fostering the potential of both riders and young coaches, promoting self-belief, and guiding them to achieve their best.
