Tentpegging

Tentpegging is an exciting equestrian sport where riders aim to knock down or pick up a peg with a stick or lance while riding at speed.

It is often conducted as a team race or relay, emphasising speed, precision, and coordination between horse and rider.

The broader class of tentpegging games also includes:

  • Ring Jousting: A galloping rider tries to pass the point of their lance through a suspended ring.
  • Lemon Sticking: The rider attempts to stab or slice a lemon suspended from a cord or sitting on a platform.
  • Mounted Archery: Riders shoot arrows at targets while riding.
  • Jousting: Traditional jousting competitions where riders engage in mock combat with lances.
