Become a Certified Gear Checker and Make a Difference
The Gear Checker Accreditation course equips you with the knowledge and skills to ensure the safety and comfort of riders and horses at Pony Club® events.
This certification is ideal for Pony Club® members aged over 16, parents and supporters; and is mandatory for coaches at all levels.

Steps To Become an Accredited Gear Checker:

Learn the detailed procedures and guidelines.

Familiarise Yourself with the National Gear Rules:
Understand the rules to ensure safety and compliance.

Watch the Gear Checker Guide Webinar:
Gain insights and practical tips.

Complete the Online Assessment:
Test your knowledge and understanding.

Practical Skills Sign-off:
Work with a Level 1 Pony Club®
coach to demonstrate and validate your skills. The credential will be added to your JustGo profile by your state Pony Club®
office.
This accreditation can be pursued independently, making it a valuable stand-alone certification for any volunteer.
Prerequisites for the Course
Candidates for the Gear Checker Accreditation must:
- Be a current member of Pony Club Australia®
- Meet the Working with Children requirements in the relevant Australian State/Territory. Learn more here
- Be at least 16 years old to receive the accreditation
- Have been supervised performing gear check procedures on two separate occasions at rally, muster, or Pony Club® events prior to assessment
