Endurance

Pony Club members can participate in Endurance riding and the shorter navigation rides.

Navigation rides are for teams of two or three riders, who have to ride over a fixed route of several kms. This is done over quiet dirt roads, bush tracks or private property.

The riders are expected to travel at walk and trot to make the time and they are guided by clues,  and answer questions on a score sheet as they go. They must finish within a set time.

Endurance riding is over longer distances and riders compete as individuals.  Horses and riders need to be very fit. Riders see a map ahead of time and plan their ride to finish within time. Horse care is paramount.  There are checkpoints and stewards along the route and most competitive rides also require the horse to be ‘vetted’ before and after the ride.
