Campdraft

Campdrafting is a uniquely Australian sport where riders demonstrate their skills in handling cattle.

It involves cutting a beast out of a mob in an enclosure, then maneuvering it around a set course. Points are awarded for both the cut out and the work on the course, showcasing the rider’s ability to control and direct the cattle effectively.

What Opportunities Do I Have?

Campdrafting is popular in some states and clubs, and Pony Club® members can participate in this and other cattle-related sports.

It offers a unique opportunity to develop horsemanship skills in a challenging and dynamic environment.

Additionally, members can experience Team Penning, a fast-paced event where a team of three riders has two minutes to separate three specifically identified cattle from a herd of 30 and put them into a pen at the opposite end of the arena. This event fosters teamwork, quick thinking, and precise riding skills. These activities provide Pony Club® members with the chance to engage in traditional Australian sports, enhancing their riding abilities and offering the potential to compete at various levels.
