How To Join Pony Club®

Joining Pony Club® is easy and open to everyone, whether you own a horse or not.

You can join a local club with your own horse or participate in an accredited riding centre where you can ride a trained school horse. 

To get started, contact your chosen club or centre to express your interest.

Once you’ve agreed on next steps, create a profile on our JustGo membership portal, find your club, and request to join. After the club approves, you can select and purchase your membership. No matter your experience level, there’s a place for you to start your journey with horses at Pony Club®.
Own a Horse?

Find a club near you and contact them to arrange a rally/muster visit.

Ask the club what to bring and the arrival time.

Sign up on JustGo and create a profile. 

If applicable, purchase a Come and Try membership for your rider on JustGo. This requirement varies between states and territories.

Join the rally and experience Pony Club® in action! Many clubs offer a “Come and Try” day, giving you the chance to explore what Pony Club is all about before committing to membership. Either way, have fun and enjoy the experience firsthand!

If you wish to continue, upgrade to a full membership. 

Some clubs also offer adult memberships, so be sure to ask your club when you make contact.

Don’t Own a Horse?

Use our interactive map to locate an Accredited Riding Centre near you. 

Centre membership is available for riders aged 5 to 80 who don’t own their own horse. Members ride trained school horses.

Reach out to the centre to check availability in their program. Ask if you need to buy your own helmet and boots, or if they are provided.

Pony Clubs usually hold a rally or muster each month. Some clubs may hold fortnightly rallies.

At a Pony Club® rally, members participate in various riding lessons and activities designed to improve their horsemanship skills and knowledge. Riders receive instruction from qualified coaches in different equestrian disciplines. Rallies also include educational sessions on horse care, safety, and stable management. It’s a great opportunity to socialise, make new friends, and be part of a supportive community. Rallies are fun, educational, and inclusive, catering to riders of all levels and ages.

For your first Pony Club® rally, you’ll need to bring the following items:

  • Horse and Tack: This includes PCA-approved saddlery (refer to National Gear Rules) such as a saddle, bridle, saddle blanket, helmet, riding boots, riding vest (mandatory for cross country), and anything else you require for your horse.
  • Basic Grooming Kit: Face brush, hoof pick, dandy brush, sweat scraper, sponge, tail brush.
  • Horse Care Supplies: Feed/hay and a water bucket.
  • Documentation: Any required paperwork.

Check with your local club for any additional requirements specific to their rallies.

Club members can attend various events, competitions, and training days organised by their club.

Different clubs have different age restrictions, and some offer membership categories for adult riders. It is best to ask the club directly if you have any doubts.

PCA Accredited Centre Membership

Riders aged between 5 and 80 years old are eligible to become Centre Members of Pony Club Australia®.

Pony Club® Accredited Centres meet the standards set by Pony Club Australia®, offering trained school horses and following the internationally-recognised Syllabus of Instruction.

Parents are essential to Pony Club®, fostering a positive experience filled with sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.

Volunteering at rallies, fundraisers, and events is crucial for our success and keeps you involved in your child’s journey. Volunteers strengthen Pony Club® and the community, gaining valuable skills and enhancing their CVs. All regular attendees aged 18+ should complete a Working With Children (WWC) Check.
