History will be made this month when the Pony Club Australia Junior and Senior National Mounted Games Championships are held in Darwin for the first time.
Hosted by the Pony Club Association of the Northern Territory from 9 to 13 September, the Championships will welcome riders, coaches, officials and families from across Australia to the Top End.
Six states and territories will be represented, the strongest national participation the event has seen in many years. South Australia will make a welcome return to the competition, while the Northern Territory will celebrate another important milestone by fielding a Senior team.
The Senior competition will be held under lights on Friday, 11 September, followed by the Junior competition on Saturday, 12 September, at the Main Equestrian Arena at Freds Pass Reserve. Spectators can look forward to fast-paced action, outstanding teamwork and impressive horsemanship as Australia’s leading Mounted Games riders compete for national honours.
The fly-in, fly-out Championships will also give visiting teams the opportunity to experience some of the Territory’s best-known attractions, including Berry Springs, the Adelaide River, Mindil Beach Markets and Litchfield National Park.
The week will conclude with a Gala Dinner in the gardens of the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, bringing competitors and supporters together to celebrate the results, new friendships and the Pony Club spirit.
With national titles on the line, six states and territories represented and the Championships heading to the Northern Territory for the first time, Darwin is set for an unforgettable week of Mounted Games.
