Pony Club Australia is delighted to announce the finalists for the Best Achievement by a Rider Aged Over 25 in the 2025 Annual Awards. This category, generously sponsored by Equinade, recognises riders who have demonstrated outstanding growth, commitment, and contribution to their clubs and communities.
The winner will be revealed on the evening of Saturday 4 October at the Ranvet 2025 Pony Club Australia National Championships Annual Awards & Presentation Dinner, held at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.
Finalists
Timothy Wilson, 47 – Lillico & District Pony Club, VIC
Tim Wilson first became involved with Lillico and District Pony Club when his teenage daughter joined. He immediately volunteered for the committee and became canteen manager, before being inspired to rejoin as an adult rider after more than 25 years away.
Returning with his self-trained stock horse, Tim used the Pony Club Australia syllabus to retrain the horse, developing skills in balanced riding, jumping, grooming, feeding, and overall horse management. His first competition since his youth was a Pony Club Show Jumping day—on the same day he also managed the canteen. He has since passed that horse to his daughter and now rides a young warmblood he is personally educating.
Tim’s contribution goes well beyond his own riding. He serves as Treasurer of the Pony Club Grounds Committee, helps run Show Jumping and Freshman’s Days, and is known for his encouraging, happy-go-lucky personality. He is a role model for younger male riders and has inspired many parents and adults to take part in Pony Club as riders and volunteers. His balance of leadership, resilience, and community spirit makes him an invaluable member of his club.
Kaitlin Goss, 28 – Eastern Hills Horse & Pony Club, WA
Kaitlin has been a member of Eastern Hills Horse and Pony Club for over 16 years and is admired as a role model within her club. As a Masters rider, she is known for immaculate presentation, professionalism, and inclusiveness, encouraging others to make the most of their Pony Club experience. She has competed at Club, Zone, State, National, and International levels, and generously shares her knowledge with younger members.
Beyond her riding, Kaitlin is deeply involved in education and leadership. She has stepped in to coach lead-line and first-ridden riders, delivered horsemastership sessions, and assessed many members for their E, D, and D* certificates. She even created a structured system to integrate certificate content into rallies, improving consistency and supporting coaches and parents.
This year Kaitlin has served as Rally Coordinator, praised for her attention to detail and communication. She manages rally attendance systems, maintains excellent relationships with coaches, and keeps members informed through social media. Her dedication, organisation, and willingness to share her time have been pivotal in ensuring smooth club operations and supporting the growth of members across all levels.
Jonnie Badger, 80 – Cambewarra Pony Club, NSW
At 80 years old, Jonnie continues to ride with enthusiasm and determination, showing that Pony Club truly is for all ages. She takes part in dressage, sporting activities, and rallies, and is a keen participant at the much-loved annual club camp. Jonnie is usually the first to arrive on rally days, and she recently purchased a new horse and saddle to continue her riding journey.
Jonnie has completed both the online and practical workshops for gear checking and now supports her club by assisting with checks before rallies. She also has a strong awareness of Pony Club’s health and safety policies, helping to create a safe, supportive environment for younger riders.
In addition to riding, Jonnie serves on the management and fundraising committee, joins working bees, maintains the club grounds, and volunteers at sausage sizzles and in the canteen. She is described as an inspiration by juniors and seniors alike, admired for her kindness, wisdom, and passion for horse welfare. Her commitment to Pony Club, even at 80, makes her a much-loved figure in the Cambewarra community.
