Pony Club Australia (PCA), the nation’s largest equestrian organisation, held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 17 May, bringing together member states and territories to reflect on a year of growth and to set the stage for the future of pony club across the country.

Member organisations unanimously supported a special resolution to formally enshrine the Nominations Committee and the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee into the PCA Constitution, strengthening the organisation’s governance framework.

Independent Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, Venetta Sacha, presented PCA’s 2024 audited financials, reporting an 11% increase in revenue and an operating surplus of 4% of turnover—demonstrating the financial strength and sustainability of the organisation.

Re-elected for their third and final two-year term were directors Carole Hodges and Jo Morgan, who have both played pivotal roles in shaping PCA’s strategic direction.

The AGM marked the final meeting as Chair for Heather Disher, who has served the organisation with distinction over the past six years. Heather reflected on the achievements outlined in the 2024 Annual Report, which represents the culmination of PCA’s 2022–2024 Strategic Plan. Under her leadership, PCA has delivered consecutive operating surpluses and secured increased investment from the Australian Sports Commission to support delivery of the 2025–2027 Strategic Plan.

Deputy Chair Marylou Hodges spoke on behalf of the members to pay tribute to Heather’s leadership and legacy, saying:

“Your creativity, insights, kindness and unwavering commitment have left a lasting impact on us all and your absence will be felt.”

Pony Club Australia is the national governing body for pony clubs and the largest equestrian organisation in the country, with over 750 affiliated clubs and nearly 30,000 members. A proud member of the international Pony Club movement, PCA continues to provide Australian members with opportunities to participate in global exchanges and competitions, all while championing horse welfare, education, safety, and community.

With strong foundations and clear priorities in place, Pony Club Australia is well positioned to lead the next phase of growth and impact for the Australian equestrian community.
