Pony Club Australia is deeply concerned by the footage involving Heath Ryan that is currently under investigation by the FEI and Equestrian Australia.
While we respect the investigative process, we wish to reiterate that Pony Club Australia does not support the use of punishment as a training method. Our Horse Welfare Policy prohibits the deliberate cause of pain or injury to horses under any circumstances.
We commend the FEI and Equestrian Australia for responding swiftly and support a thorough and fair investigation. Horse welfare is fundamental to our organisation, and we expect all members of the equestrian community to uphold the highest standards of care. Our current patron, Dr Andrew McLean, is a leading expert in equine learning and behaviour, and reflects our ongoing commitment to science-based training and horse welfare.
