The International Mounted Games Exchange (IMGE) is one of Pony Club’s most exciting international opportunities, bringing together young riders from around the world to compete, learn and connect through mounted games.
Held annually in a different host country, the exchange blends competition with cultural experiences, giving riders the chance to represent Australia while building friendships that extend far beyond the arena.
What is the Exchange?
The IMGE is designed to develop well-rounded riders through:
- Team-based mounted games competition at an international level
- Exposure to different coaching styles and competition formats
- Cultural exchange and shared experiences with riders and families from other countries
While the competition is a highlight, the exchange is equally about connection, learning and stepping outside familiar environments.
2026 Exchange – United States
In 2026, the International Mounted Games Exchange will be hosted in the United States, with the Australian team travelling through Atlanta, Cincinnati and Kentucky over ten days.
The tour includes:
- Mounted games competition, including a final competition day and gala
- Visits to iconic equestrian venues such as the Kentucky Horse Park and Churchill Downs
- Group activities including hiking, ziplining and kayaking
- Opportunities to connect with international riders, coaches and families
The experience is designed to balance competition with cultural immersion, giving riders a broader understanding of Pony Club and equestrian sport globally.
What Riders Gain
Riders selected for the IMGE represent Pony Club Australia on the international stage, but just as importantly, they return with:
- Greater confidence in new and unfamiliar environments
- Stronger teamwork and communication skills
- Exposure to different approaches to training and competition
- Lifelong friendships within the global Pony Club community
It is an opportunity that challenges riders both on and off the horse.
Selection and Participation
Riders are nominated by their State or Territory Pony Club Associations, recognising those who have demonstrated strong ability in mounted games, along with the attitude and teamwork required for an international exchange.
From these nominations, Pony Club Australia selects a team that reflects both performance and the ability to represent Australia positively in a team and cultural setting.
Selection details and nomination timelines are released each year, with riders encouraged to speak with their State or Territory Association about eligibility and the nomination process.
A Global Pony Club Experience
The International Mounted Games Exchange reflects what Pony Club does best — developing capable, confident riders while fostering a strong sense of community.
For those involved, it is more than a trip or a competition. It is a chance to represent Australia, experience the world through horses, and be part of something bigger than their own club.
