Volunteer of the Year

Pauline Campbell, from Bendigo Pony Club, embodies the core values of Pony Club Australia in everything she does, always with the best interests of current and future riders in mind.

Through uncertain times, Pauline has kept the club united, offering kindness and accessibility to all members. Her unwavering integrity and innovative approaches to supporting the club have been exceptional. Pauline wears many hats—Pony Club Mum, Coach, Committee Member, Secretary, Administrator, and a true friend to the community. Her deep commitment to the welfare of horses is also a priority.

In recent years, Bendigo Pony Club faced a challenging relocation process when its grounds, home for over 65 years, were acquired by FoodShare in Bendigo. Pauline took a leading role in the monumental task of finding a new location, meeting stakeholder requirements, and managing the planning and relocation of club facilities, working tirelessly to ensure the club’s survival for future generations.

As Secretary of the Committee, Pauline’s role has gone far beyond typical responsibilities, demanding significant time and commitment. Treating the work as a full-time job for months, she has been instrumental in securing the future of the club, safeguarding the safety of riders, the well-being of horses, and the enjoyment and progress of members.

Pauline’s strong governance, professionalism, and dedication have been crucial to Bendigo Pony Club’s survival, navigating bureaucratic challenges and ensuring the club thrives. Her nurturing role extends beyond her own family to all riders, consistently supporting both children and parents. Whether it’s helping a stubborn horse load onto a float or coaching Ride to Time, Pauline is always at the forefront, even in the face of challenges from not having permanent facilities in recent years.
