PCA Club of the Year

Black River Pony and Hack Club has demonstrated a strong commitment to member engagement over the past 24 months, focusing on two key areas: attracting new members and enhancing the experience of existing ones.

This proactive approach has led to a remarkable 10% increase in membership, driven by a targeted social media campaign that showcased the value of joining the Pony Club family. The club effectively utilised PCA marketing resources, promoting its message through Facebook and equestrian group pages, alongside in-person events like a local Horse Expo and a meet and greet at their grounds.

To foster deeper connections, new members complete a questionnaire outlining their interests and skills, allowing the club to tailor their experiences. The club also prioritises effective communication with current members, using feedback to improve engagement strategies. By developing a comprehensive digital Welcome and Induction guide, the club has enhanced communication, increased rally attendance, and ensured members feel prepared for events.

The club’s rallies have become a focal point, with a steady increase in participation: six in 2022, eight in 2023, and nine completed so far in 2024. These events cater to a diverse range of abilities, from beginner riders to state representatives, ensuring inclusivity by offering varied disciplines each year.

In addition to member engagement, Black River Pony and Hack Club has prioritised governance. The club has established clear roles and responsibilities, creating an organisational map that fosters involvement beyond executive positions. Digitisation efforts have streamlined processes, with important documents and procedures accessible online.

The club’s commitment to safety and member protection is evident through regular risk assessments, safeguarding training for instructors, and accessible incident reporting mechanisms. They have also digitised their policies and procedures to ensure transparency and compliance.

Financially, the club has implemented an innovative sponsorship programme that has successfully generated approximately $5000. Their enhanced visibility through social media has facilitated stronger sponsor relationships, benefiting the club’s financial stability.

Overall, Black River Pony and Hack Club’s multifaceted approach has significantly improved member attraction, retention, and engagement. Their dedication to inclusivity and continuous improvement ensures a vibrant and supportive community for all members.
